The Landscapes of Magic: The Gathering

Landscapes of Magic: The Gathering is an exploration of the worlds that Magic: The Gathering artist have created from the early beginnings 1993 to present day.  The purpose of this exhibition is to invite the viewer to relive memories of playing with these landscapes, while sharing the creative process from the Artist themselves.  This archive of works by no means is a finite representation, but more to share a infinite world of possibilities that Magic: The Gathering has brought to our past, present and future.

While most us started playing the game, we have come accustomed the five basic lands of Magic - Island, Mountain, Forest, Swamp and Plains.  Alpha presented the first "Dual Lands" or "Multi Lands" for Magic.  As a player, playing Underground Sea meant the choice of tapping for a "Blue" or "Black" Mana.  This flexibility of mana gave players a tremendous boost, as Dual Lands have been imitated, but not replicated.  Dual Lands today such as "Fetch Lands" or "Shock Lands" produce a similar effect, but with a draw back or penalty.
